Engineer helps Homeowners save hundreds as economy tightens.

Homeowners seek cost cutting solutions as electric costs soar over North Texas; Mist Ecology pledges to help.

It’s no surprise to people who know Tim Jensen that he loves to help people. As a mechanical engineer at Halff Associates Inc., an engineering firm based in Richardson, Texas, Tim has done just that. After a long jog in the intense North Texas heat, Tim ran for the garden
hose in his back yard to cool off. When some water splashed in his air conditioning unit he noticed it immediately stopped struggling. Intrigued, he began to investigate how pre-cooling an air conditioning unit with misting can ease the unit’s work and improve its efficiency. Thus, Mist Ecology was born.

Getting to where they are today was a journey. It took five years of
building prototypes, field studies, patent research, data gathering, and product analysis. With graphs and data in hand, the first AC Spritzer and Ultra Mister were introduced into the marketplace in the spring of 2008. “I wanted to present something to the homeowner, in this depressed economy, to help them feel better; particularly about their electric bill. In Texas,The AC Spritzer works on the principle that the precooler creates a cloud of mist around the condensing unit which quickly evaporates and cools the air entering the condenser coil by 12 to 20 degrees. there are so many energy options with electric companies and rates vary all over. The AC Spritzer can cut your air conditioner’s electric usage by up to 30%, keep your house cooler, and help extend the life of your unit. Being interested in the environment, I wanted to make sure the AC Spritzer was earth friendly. Our pre-coolers not only reduce energy costs, but in turn also reduce CO2 and pollution. And our return on investment, compared to other options, is excellent.” says Tim.

The AC Spritzer works by creating a cloud of mist around the condensing unit which quickly evaporates and cools the air entering the condenser coil by 12 to 20 degrees, in our North Texas climate. It can lower the indoor temperature by 2 degrees. It reduces electricity usage and the filter reduces condenser coil cleaning from debris.

The AC Spritzer can be installed by the do-it-yourselfer and maintenance is only occasional; filter replacement and mister nozzle cleaning. Everything the consumer needs comes in a convenient kit.

“Tim and the Mist Ecology team have done a good job of simplifying the AC Spritzer for homeowners and businesses. We have experienced great response and I think it’s completely because people truly want to save every cent they can on energy, groceries, childcare, you name it.”, says Roger Burns, CFO of Halff Associates, Inc., and President of Mist Ecology. “Every home and business should have one of these. We really take pride that this system is developed locally and made in America, something you don’t see a lot of these days.” says Roger.
