MSP® Technology (Huntington, NY), a leader in the development of energy-efficient dehumidification and energy recovery technology, announced today that it has furnished two 20,000 cfm roof mounted dehumidification units, with MSP® Technology to Walmart and Sam’s Club supermarket locations in Puerto Rico. The units have been installed, replacing gas driven desiccant systems.

In June 1992, Walmart opened its first store Fajardo, thanks to the efforts of the associates and the excellent support of the Puerto Rican people. Today, the company operates 54 units on the Island, including 8 Walmart stores, 6 Walmart Supercenter and 31 SAM'S CLUB Supermarkets
Amigo. Walmart Puerto Rico is the largest private employer on the island with more than 14,000 Puerto Ricans and generates more than 3,500 indirect jobs in transportation, maintenance and security, among other areas.

According to Edgardo Velez, P.E., President of Quantum Engineering and consultants to Walmart Puerto Rico, “We selected MSP Technology because they offered the only solution with high performance and low energy consumption in a simple 100% refrigerant based unit with
minimal maintenance and low supply air dew point temperature."

Walter Stark, President of MSP Technology commented, “Walmart engineers evaluated a full range of alternative solutions before selecting MSP Dehumidification Technology. We are very pleased that Walmart engineers recognized the value of MSP in this application. In the end we
reduced electric service to each unit from 350 amps to 200 amps and completely eliminated the need for gas.”

Stark added, “We will continue to research fresh opportunities in humidity control and energy recovery and help develop new markets for MSP products by working closely with customers’ system engineers.”
