Five More Educational Sessions Highlight 2012 Annual RSES Conference Lineup.

Five more educational sessions add to the already power-packed conference lineup during the 75th Annual RSES Conference and HVACR Technology Expo that will be held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual RSES Mid-Southeast Regional Association Educational Conference on Nov. 14-17, 2012 at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, S.C. The 2012 conference will focus on education as well as many industry-related topics and the theme will be, “Your Bridge to Education and Training.” The RSES Charleston Chapter will host the event.

The five educational sessions include:

“Train the Trainer - Hydrocarbon Refrigerants,” will be led by Patrick L. Murphy, CM, of RSES. This two-hour session will target a beginner-level audience. Murphy will cover what the Environmental Protection Agency has established as the requirements for using flammable refrigerants in the United States, the limitations for uses and the potential issues of using flammable refrigerants.

“Mechanically Attached Fittings for Joining Aluminum and Copper Refrigeration Piping Compared to Traditional Brazing,” will be led by Garry L. Rose of Reflok North America Inc. and Jonathan Charles Perry of Hoffman & Hoffman Inc. This two-hour session will target a beginner-level audience. Rose and Perry will discuss the differences between current copper piping systems installed by soldering or brazing techniques versus systems that are joined with mechanically joined methods like flaring or Reflok joining techniques. Special focus will be on applying field piping to higher pressure refrigerants such as R-410A, and CO2..

“Decoding Generation Y,” will be led by Emily Saving of Heating, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International. This two-hour session will target all audience levels and will help attendees understand the defining characteristics of a Millennial, what he or she most values, and how to use this information to reach, attract and engage a Millennial and lastly, why it’s important to care.

“CM Preparation Session,” will be led by Jayson Goff, CM, of T&O Refrigeration Inc. This two-hour session will target an intermediate- to advanced-level audience. Goff will review some of the key areas individuals seem to have the most problems with when taking the Certificate Member exam.

“Growing Your Chapter” will be led by Ken Robinson, CM, of Climate Pro Mechanical. This 90-minute presentation will target RSES Chapter Officers. Robinson will: discuss member retention; what does your chapter do now and what more can you do; marketing your chapter to supply houses, vocational schools, etc.; growing your membership and meeting attendance expectations; what our chapter is doing; and final input from audience.
