Mid West Association of RSES Presents its Annual Educational Conference.

The RSES Mid West Association will hold its annual educational conference on March 26–28, 2009 at the Clarion Meridian Hotel & Convention Center in Oklahoma City. This three-day program is hosted by RSES Region Nine. 

Several presentations will highlight the conference schedule including: “Inverter Technology,” by Jeff Storer of Airwell-Fedders North America Inc.; “Refrigerants Know How,” by Stephen Spletzer of Arkema Inc.; “The Importance of Effective Air Distribution,” by Roger Hensley, CMS, OGE Energy Corp.; “ICOR Refrigerants,” by Nelson Pinero of ICOR International Inc.; and “Testing Tools and Instruments,” by Bill Spohn of Testo Inc. 

The conference kick-off event will be the opening ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 8:30 a.m., followed by several events throughout the day including: a tour of the Johnson Controls UPG facility; the quarterly business meeting; and a buffet and white elephant auction hosted by the RSES Mid West Ladies Auxiliary. 

Friday, March 27, 2009, will begin with training and testing updates presented by Renee Tomlinson, RSES director of training and testing, followed by an educationally packed day including: Jeff Storer’s presentation on inverter technology as it applies to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry; Stephen Spletzer’s presentation on Arkema Forane’s role in the refrigerant marketplace, the phase-out schedule on R-22, the industry impact and transition strategies; the RSES Region Nine annual board meeting; and testing opportunities. 


The educational conference will conclude on Saturday, March 28, 2009 with a discussion led by Roger Hensley, CMS, on the importance of effective air distribution systems, which has been North American Technician Excellence recognized for continuing education hours toward renewing NATE certification; a presentation on alternative refrigerants with emphasis on retrofits and the available alternatives, by Nelson Pinero; and Bill Spohn’s discussion on testing tools and instruments. In addition, the Region Nine installation of officers ceremony and banquet will wrap up the night. 

Testing opportunities on Friday, March 27, 2009, for Certificate Member (RSES members only), Certificate Member Specialist (RSES members only), and the North American Technician Excellence series of exams will be available. RSES student identification card, RSES membership card, and NATE certification card will be required for applicable exams. Exam fees vary.
